![]() Hector Bourg Jr. (usually known as "Butch" by one and all) is a native of Gulfport, Mississippi and a graduate of St. Stanislaus College High School (Bay St. Louis, MS), and the University of Southern Mississippi where he earned his BFA Degree in Commercial Art and Drawing and Painting with minors in Art History and French. While at USM, he was also President of Kappa Pi, an Art Fraternity and a member of "The Pride of Mississippi", USM's legendary marching band. Upon graduation he moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he has spent the majority of his time as a freelance designer. Butch's education took place at a time before computers were introduced into the industry. After years of working with his hands, designing with the aid of a computer seemed a daunting task. Finally, kicking and screaming, he drug himself into the computer age and is now a confirmed PC addict! Most of his work is now done using a variety of graphic arts software and other related programs. Apart from his design interests, Hector is an avocational musician with more than 30 years as trombonist with the Sentimental Journey Orchestra. He also sings basso profundo with his church choir and has three times been privileged to sing for high mass in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, and at three papal audiences! He has also served three years as President of the Georgia Sealion chapter of the Submarine Veterans of World War II...as an Associate Member and, as one who was too young to have served in WW II, this was a much appreciated signal honor! When all else fails you will find him in a comfortable chair reading historical mysteries and books about submarines. He's been happily married for nearly three decades and is the father of two grown children. |
